So… more than a few of you would like to know exactly when pre-orders for Schlock Mercenary: The Tub of Happiness will open. Here are enumerated tidbits for you.
- I’m putting a stake in the ground and saying “Next Thursday, September 20th, at 10am Eastern Time.” That gives you a week to plan, right?
- If you are coming to Mountain-Con or Small Press Expo, you can place your pre-order there, including a pre-order for a sketch edition.
- If you’ve got a really good excuse for why you can’t order a sketch edition inside a 24-hour window next Thursday, email howard.tayler or sandra.tayler at our gmail accounts, and we’ll try to find a way to accomodate you.

So sketch editions can only be ordered during the Thursday-Friday window next week, unless one attends either of the cons?

Timezone wise, what are you in compared to GMT? I think Eastern is GMT -5? Need to know this so I can coordinate my shopping for the right time. 🙂

Eastern is GMT-5, yes. If you’re in Western Europe, the pre-orders will open midafternoon, at 2:00pm, 3:00pm, or 4:00pm.
Nope, Australia (GMT +10). This means that as far as I can tell, orders open for me at 1:00am the next morning (Friday the 21st). Simply means that I’ll buy first thing in the morning.
Sketch editions are available for the full 24 hours aren’t they? Not a limited number? I wouldn’t want my two existing sketch editions to feel in any way superior to a non-sketch edition of Schlock Mercenary: The Tub of Happiness, now would I? 🙂

Yes, sketch editions are available for the full 24 hours. They are also not going to be limited to 1 per customer — they make great gifts, after all.
One more thing: Daylight Savings is in effect here. I’ll be opening pre-orders at 8:00am local time, and that’s currently GMT-6 (it changes to -7 in October). 10am Eastern is GMT-4, or 2:00pm.
So, the easy answer is that I’ll check before I go to bed on Thursday, and if they aren’t open yet I’ll do it first thing when I get up Friday. Got it!
I hate dealing with timezones. I confused, and am going to bed (it’s 1:00am here, which might explain why).

Yes, that’s right, I’m going to finally get a sketch edition! (Besides, I’m no longer a student and earning-ish now, and quite frankly, I think I deserve a most wonderful treat).
Does “I’m broke now, and I don’t get paid until the 30th” qualify as a good excuse?
