Wheee! I managed to bang out four scripts! This means that I can sit down and draw tomorrow, thanks to the magic of INSOMNIA!

I hate insomnia. This is the “my brain is on overdrive” variety… not my least favorite by any stretch, but certainly less fun than, say, SLEEPING.

Maybe I’ll write something useful… like Schlock scripts.

Maybe that’ll tire me, and I’ll fall asleep.

In an effort to defray the costs of hosting, I’ve gotten the Google Adsense ads running throughout the Schlock Mercenary archives.

Most of the ads are just “Comics” things that I doubt any of my readers are really interested in. You read Schlock Mercenary (if you do, that is) because you enjoy that strip, not because you’re a comics collector. Since Google only pays on click-through, the archives are not going to generate much revenue… except for strips where there are footnotes.

I find this both creepy and hilarious. This strip, which has a footnote about the infamous chupaqueso, was sporting four ads for cheese. I think writing footnotes just got more interesting for me…”Gee, what kind of whacked-out Google ads can I get to load under THIS strip?”

It’s been a horrifically busy weekend, what with the move and the only-barely-preannounced arrival of relatives. All my time was spent working with chalain on the site, tweaking the look and feel, and realizing just how HUGE my installation at Keenspot was. We still have a lot of work to do. It’s a good thing Google is making me giggle, or I’d be a basket-case.

Yes, it’s April Fools’ Day. Yes, Schlock Mercenary has left Keenspot. And yes, my plan to take over the world required this move.

I hope you enjoyed the joke as much as I did — the joke being “I can’t tell if he’s serious or not.” To me it’s almost as funny as the time I killed Tagon and got piles of “u cant’ be s3rious!” email. It’s not quite as funny as the strip that airs tomorrow. (Just because I’m relieving the stress of the current gag doesn’t mean you’re stress-less-ly off the hook. 🙂

Please feel free to comment on how much you like the new site design. We’ll be tweaking all kinds of things over the next couple of days (and weeks, and months). There are LOTS of new features coming, some of which are designed to make me mo’ money faster, and some of which are designed to make y’all happy.
