GenCon Indy! Munchkin Tavern! Worldbuilders Party!

I’ll be at GenCon Indy this week. I’m sharing space with Jim Zub (Skullkickers, Avengers: No Surrender, Wayward) at booth 1649 in the exhibit hall. It’s a huge place, so here’s a map:

We’ll have loads of merchandise, including Planet Mercenary books, Seventy Maxims books, and of course Schlock Mercenary books, including the latest volume, Random Access Memorabilia.

I’ll also have a portfolio containing close to a hundred pieces of original Munchkin: Starfinder artwork, some of which will be available for purchase.

(We won’t have copies of the game, but if you bring your copy to the booth I can deface it.)

And speaking of Munchkin: Starfinder, I’ll be playing the game at the Worldbuilders charity event on Friday evening, and I’ll be hanging out in the Munchkin Tavern on Saturday.

Here’s my full schedule of events OUTSIDE booth 1649.

Thursday

  • 10:00am, Austin (Downtown Marriott, 2nd floor)—Crafting Humor for the Page (a solo presentation in which I unpack my joke-refinement toolbox for you, and explain how this stuff works)

Friday

  • 10:00am, Ballroom (Downtown Marriott, 2nd floor)—Writing Excuses recording sessions (including one with James S.A. Corey of THE EXPANSE)
  • 4:00pm, Atlanta (Downtown Marriott, 2nd floor)—Urban Fantasy, Why So Serious? (I’m moderating a panel discussion)
  • 6:00pm, Rooms 9 & 10 (J.W Marriott Ballroom)—Worldbuilders Party

Saturday

  • 12:00pm, Atlanta (Downtown Marriott, 2nd floor)—AMA (“Ask Me Anything”) with Howard and Sandra (come and ask us anything!)
  • 7:00pm, Munchkin Tavern (Tavern on South, 423 W. South Street) — Signing and sketching and stuff

If you catch up with me at the booth, you may get to watch me draw Schlock Mercenary comics.  I’m bringing a week of scripts with me (the week of August 26th through September 1st,) because this is how I go for eighteen years without failing to update.

Find Sandra and Also Me at LTUE This Weekend

Sandra and I are participating at LTUE in Provo, Utah this weekend. This is our home town show, and we’re going to have a table in the dealers’ room. New items beneath the Schlock Mercenary shingle at this show include Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries and the Planet Mercenary RPG

¹ Unless otherwise noted by “(UVCC)”, all of the events listed here are being held in the Marriott Hotel’s banquet halls.  The Utah Valley Convention Center is across the street to the north
² Alan Bahr and Sandra Tayler have raised, between the two of them, close to a million dollars on Kickstarter.
³ This will be my first opportunity to be on a panel with Myke Cole. SQUEEE!
Todd Gallowglas, a professional storyteller with mad crowd-control chops, and who has schooled Howard pretty effectively in past will be moderating. We have it on good authority that Howard has promised to “be good this time.”

ConFusion This Weekend

I’ll be attending ConFusion Through The Looking Glass in Detroit this weekend. I’m not on any panels (by choice) and I’m neither exhibiting (by choice) nor selling merchandise (you see the pattern here). I’m just hanging out.

If you’re there and would like something signed, and you happen to see me, it’s okay to ask. If I’m in the middle of something (like, say, a dinner with friends) then use good judgment.

I may bring work with me, so it’s possible you’ll see me sitting somewhere drawing comics. It’s just fine for you to talk to me while I’m drawing. Literally half my brain will be looking for something to do while the other half makes pictures, and since it’s the half with the language center, conversation fits the bill nicely.

Howard at Salt Lake Comic Con

I’ll be at Salt Lake Comic Con this weekend. You can find my stuff at booth 1611 (the Brandon Sanderson booth), and they’ll also know when I will be around for signings. They can text me, too!

My schedule is pretty light, and I have huge piles of work to do, so I won’t be hanging out behind a table between sessions – I’ll be hiding somewhere drawing pictures.
