Iron Man: stick around for the end of the credits…

I really enjoyed Iron Man. Yes, there is something to reward those who hang around for the end of the credits.

Plotwise, it was fairly predictable, but that’s due in part to the fact that I know the form the writers are working within. EVERYTHING is fairly predictable for me these days, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It didn’t hurt the Iron Man film at all, because the character interactions, the fight scenes, the SFX, and all the rest of the details were so much fun.

Plot holes? Sure. It’s a superhero film, after all.

  1. That’s why my roommate and I always stick around through the end credits. We both saw it tonight. Enjoyed it very much.

  2. Heh, I posted the same message by TXT while leaving the theater…

I thought that the casting of Robert Downey Jr. was inspired. Few (if any) other actors could pull off the complexity of the character and make him likable, to boot.

  3. That was way too much fun. I could have used another 15 or 20 minutes of climax, but I can never get enough of that stuff.

    1. Yeah, me too. But then I realized that I left the film “wanting more” rather than having “had enough.”

The filmmakers made the right call there.

  4. So it has the HoTay seal of approval for enjoyable movie-watching?

Looks like I’m seeing Iron Man then… 🙂

  5. Sal and a bunch of other Aegis people saw it Thursday night. [grump} They are in total agreement.

I’ll be at the theatre this morning at 10 AM.

  6. It was fantastic – one of the best comic book adaptions of all time. Favs rocks as a director, showing true love of the material, and I knew the casting of Downey Jr. was inspired from the moment it was announced.

I’m really just stoked at future sequel possibilities, since they tease more than a few things (particularly in that end credits tag). It’s actually fairly well-known at this point that Downey Jr. cameos in “The Incredible Hulk,” as does Secret End Credits Guy. It’ll be interesting to see how Marvel continues to set up this film universe, since they’re now funding and making the movies themselves.

  7. It was way awesome! Hope you stayed for the end credits. When those were over there was an entire scene with Stark and Nick Fury. I LOVE who they chose to play Fury btw.

  8. Awwwww! Ya ruined it!
You are supposed to say “SPOILER ALERT” if you are going to do something like that. Everyone else did it right.

I saw it at a very late show Fri. night. It was AWESOME!
I too left wanting more. Downey did an amazing job and the SFX were incredible too.
I could gush more but I will just leave it at this, Howard’s movie review status just went up another notch in my book. Can’t fault him at all on this one.
