  2. I don’t quite see what’s so disgusting about that phrase, but I am just imagining Shock damn near tearing through the hull of the ‘Touch & Go’ trying to get at what he imagines to be the largest quantity of Ovalkwik he’s ever going to encounter.

    1. Imagine playing sports, and trying to hydrate yourself with something with a consistency somewhere between maple syrup and pudding.

      And yes, I’m looking forward to Schlock’s reaction to the sight gag. I doubt he’ll be briefed on what to expect before seeing the canister, if only because it’s funnier that way.

    I’d always pictured “Ovalqwik” as some kind of hot chocolate, especially given the powder’s colour. And the fact that it’s a (presumably inadvertant, given today’s strip) almost-portemanteu of Ovaltine (hot chocolate) and Nesquik (chocolate milk powder; obnoxious Flash site with sounds).

      Yes, “Ovalkwik” is meant to be a nod towards the chocolate drink powders we know and love today.

      The words “NEW” and “refreshing sports energy syrup” don’t negate that. They just mean the Ovalkwik people are reaching out to a new market.

      Howard, have you ever said how big Schlock can get? I mean, he can regenerate himself by eating, so…. can’t he just get as big as he wants?

      Presumably this IS as big as he wants, and at some point your weight begins to buckle under your strength, but a tub that size makes me think of a Schlock that size.

    1. See, unless you’ve got yourself some SWNT (Or, if you’re human like us, you want multi-walled nanotubes, slightly less nasty to the body) You can’t capture that unique Ovalkwik flavor.
