179.5… I haven’t read that on the scale since I started cartooning

That’s right, I think I’m at my lowest weight in something like five years. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I tipped the scale at less than 180 lbs, but I KNOW it’s been more than three years. Naturally, I’m feeling quite pleased with this morning’s scale reading. My next goal is 175, which long ago was a weight I had trouble imagining myself ABOVE.

    1. Chromium Picolinate, I think.

I’ve also got some “fat burner” pills that have the chromium along with caffeine, kola nut extract, cinnamon, and who knows what else. Those stoke the fires nicely, but they make me jittery so I don’t take them regularly.

          1. Atkins thought caffiene was bad, I beleive, and urged people to stop drinking it. But I’ve found that without caffiene my batteries simply run down, and my metabolism runs faster when I drink it (which means faster fat loss). So, no giving up the caffiene for me, although I have cut it way back from the six-eight cups a day I used to intake.

          2. I don’t know about the diet…

But it was my understanding, limited though it be, that Mormons were prohibited from imbibing anything with tanin (sp) in it…

Though I might well be wrong, and seek proper instruction from someone that actually IS of the mormon faith…

And boy I’m glad I reread my typing before I hit the “Post” button… That second “m” is mighty important… Right changes the whole tone, don’t it?

          3. Re: I don’t know about the diet…

Coffee and tea are restricted by the Word of Wisdom, which you may have heard of. They are not as strongly counseled against as alcohol, tobacco, and other potent chemicals (LDS and LSD don’t mix). I don’t know specifically about tanin, but if it’s strong and addictive, it would be a no-no. That’s what the Word of Wisdom is all about: keeping your mind free from bodily addictions.

And yes, the second “m” is mighty important, isn’t it? After all, if morons weren’t allowed to drink coffee or tea, the loss in exports would cripple Asia and destroy South America. 🙂

Oh. Oops. I thought you meant tea was a no-no on the diet. Never mind. I’m sure Howard will tune in with the answer to your ACTUAL question.

  1. Congratulations! I know you’ve been watching your weight drop for a while now. Reaching a particular goal like this one always gives such a humdinger of a sense of accomplishment.

  2. A few days ago, I weighed in at 222 (1/3 the number of the beast). This is an all-time high for me. I should go on my “Eat Less Shit” diet, but can’t seem to get up the gumption. My all-time low on this body frame was 166 pounds back in the Summer of 1988. This was just after coming back from Geology field camp. I looked anorexic at this time.

  3. Congratulations! It’s a wondeful feeling, isn’t it?

When I started my diet I was 110kg (220 lbs) and now I’m down to 82kg (180 lbs) so I know how you feel.

However, one small question to put things into perspective: How tall are you?
