Big Dumb Cover Art: The Zero Audio Edition

Over the weekend I had insomnia, and decided to stream my work on the Big Dumb Objects cover. That video is now available on YouTube.

The audio wasn’t working, and it took me a minute to realize I wasn’t being heard, so I’ve positioned the video at that point in the clip above. I decided not to troubleshoot the audio, and to instead focus on making art.

I’ll be doing this again, only with working audio, so be sure to follow twitch.tv/howardtayler for notifications of the live stream. The next pass of inks will really shape the picture, and should be fun to watch.

We’re still on-track with the Big Dumb Objects Kickstarter, and our first pin design proofs are now pictured on the page. It looks like the pins will be unlocked as add-ons today or tomorrow, so be sure to check them out!

Streaming Today: “Big Dumb Cover Art”

Today at 7pm Eastern (5pm my time) I’ll be streaming from my drafting table. Follow and subscribe at twitch.tv/howardtayler

Today’s project is the cover art for the next Schlock Mercenary collection, Big Dumb Objects. I’ll be starting with concept thumbnails, so if you show up early and join the discussion, you might just influence the final product!

I’ll also be taking suggestions for future streams, and I might even work on some Schlock Mercenary comics if I get stalled on the cover.

Streaming Like A Streamer

Look at this! You can watch me draw!

This video is 28 minutes long, and was created yesterday (October 2nd) for my Twitch stream. I’m experimenting a bit with streaming because they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks and I’m interested in proving them wrong. Or maybe I’ll just be cited as an exception to the rule. Perhaps people will say it doesn’t count because I’m not old.

It doesn’t matter. All of those qualify as win conditions for me.

Follow and/or subscribe at twitch.tv/howardtayler.

I’m getting ready to stream again in about 20 minutes, because today’s #Inktober prompt is “Bait” and my brother told me that if I draw anything ELSE it would be “bait and switch” so now I need to do that.

Typecast RPG Tonight on Twitch

It’s Tuesday! That means tonight at 9pm Eastern I’ll be streaming¹ our Gods of Vareon D&D game with Dan Wells, Brian McClellan, Mari Murdock, Charlie Holmberg, and Ethan Sproat.

Last week Ethan took a shot of 140k Scoville hot sauce every time someone subscribed. This week we’ll do something different. I’ve offered to do a sketch based on each new subscriber’s suggestion, but ultimately it’s up to Dan².

Previous sessions are available on YouTube, but as an incentive to tune in on Twitch, the live show has a live-only after-party³, in which we take questions from the chat, and get randomly silly.

¹ Technically, our producer, the inimitable and ever-youthful Donald Mustard the Third will be doing all the streaming. The rest of us are just on camera when he works his magic.
² Unless Dan picks hot sauce, in which case it’s up to me, and I pick no hot sauce.
³ There was no after-party last week. Our Twitch stream crashed last week when something in the neighborhood dragged our upload speeds waaay down. We never did figure out what it was, but we DID determine that it was happening everywhere, and not just where we were streaming, so it’s safe to say that it was not a problem with Mr. Mustard’s magic.
