Pingbacks: Do they work anywhere?

Aside August 5, 2014 Howard Tayler

Still trying to get pingbacks to work on this site. Everything seems to be set up to allow them, including the notification of the ping server, but my testing shows nothing.

Grrr.

  • SOUL December 27, 2020
I loved Soul. LOVED. IT. The mythos was fun, the music was amazing, and the story had more heart in it—more truth in it—than anything in recent memory. As an added bonus, if you like jazz, this movie has some amazing things to offer. It’s easily worth a Disney+ subscription. Easily. Yes, it has death, […]
  • Wonder Woman 1984 December 26, 2020
The up-front summary: I enjoyed Wonder Woman 1984 but I was disappointed. I don’t regret signing up for HBOMax¹, because #WW84 was worth the $15 (cheaper and safer than going to the theater) but I really do wish the film had been… y’know… better. The good: there were lots of fun moments in the film, […]
  • TENET December 19, 2020
TENET is one of those films like THE SIXTH SENSE in which any review of the film must dance around the fact that it’s very, very difficult to say much about it—especially in any sort of critical examination—without spoiling something. So let me just say this before saying anything else: I enjoyed it. I really […]
  • Let’s review some movies December 19, 2020
It’s been a while, I know. I haven’t been to the theater since February, and I suppose I could describe my spring, summer, and fall to you, but all three of them were mightily 2020’d, so let’s just give that a miss. Will I make it back to a movie theater anytime soon? I doubt […]
  • Frozen II December 27, 2019
I don’t think Frozen II is going to get sing-along screenings, but I’m okay with that. To my mind, if there’s a weakness¹ with Frozen, it’s that one of the songs was so iconic, so memorable, and so infectious it unfairly raised the bar on the rest of the franchise. Reset that bar, and Frozen […]

  • Where To Find Me December 18, 2022
The late 2022 Twitter fiascochuro¹ necessitated the creation of a socials post detailing where you might find me on the various social media platforms. • A Little Immortality: The Kickstarter! October 19, 2022
We’ve launched the Kickstarter for A Little Immortality: Schlock Mercenary Book 17, and it has already funded. Also, it has already blown past all but one of our original stretch goals, including one that gives everybody (not just backers—everybody) a free desktop wallpaper. Our plan was to launch it *quietly* on Tuesday, and then announce […]

  • 18.13: Finding the Core Conflict March 26, 2023
In our ongoing exploration of tension, the time has come to examine conflict. It can be shaped and delivered in numerous ways, but you have to know the core conflict before you can make anybody feel tense about it. Credits: Your hosts for this episode were Mary Robinette Kowal, DongWon Song, Erin Roberts, Dan Wells, and […]
  • 18.12: The Long Shadow of Unanswered Questions March 19, 2023
Our continuing exploration of tension has taken us to a favorite technique: unanswered questions. Sure, this obviously applies to mysteries, but consider the question posed in romances: “will they get together?” In its simplest form, the unanswered question that forces a page-turn is "what happens on the next page?" In this episode we explore how to […]
