I lost that round…

Turns out that the guy who wants me to go to Chicago REALLY needs me there. So we haggled, and I’m going. My travel-free month of July now has travel in it.

The good news is that we haggled to the point that my trip to Chicago is a day-trip. I depart SLC at 8am, arrive at O’Hare at 12:45, present from 2:00 to 3:45, and then zip back to the airport in time to catch a 4:52pm flight home.

There will be no meeting with Chicago-area Schlockers this time around, I’m afraid. But I don’t have to spend the night, either. It’s just a really long work-day spent mostly on planes.

  1. Awww…

Darn, and here I was hoping to have a chance to come outta lurking so I could meet ya =P … hey where are you running away to?

Uhhhh… I hope where you are presenting from isnt all that far from the airport. If its in/near downtown, you may still be stuck in traffic when your plane starts boarding.

    1. 13.2 miles…

I’m told that the cab ride between hotel and airport is just under 20 minutes.

If they’re wrong, they are SO going to owe me one. A big, juicy one. Oh, and I’ll be stuck in Chicago for the night, and I’ll be bored.

Ah, thats not too far, assuming its 13 miles on the interstate. Unless of course, there is an accident, in which case not even 2 hours would give you enough time =P

(try #3 for posting this reply, will it work? *grumble* horray for database being down…)

You should be fine from there. That’s actually somewhat behind the airport, so you will be heading towards the city to leave, and the inbound rush hour traffic tends not to get bad till around 4pm.

            Mostly on i-90 inbound:

  2. Dude, I don’t know how you do it sometimes.

I’m glad and very thankful that so far, travel has not become part of my duties…

    1. You’ve got me beat.

You don’t know how I do it sometimes.

I don’t know how I do it ALL the time.

On those times when you know how I do it, would you mind emailing me and letting me know how I’m doing it? That way we’ll both know.

  3. *waves her sledgehammer at your co-worker!* EVIL TRAVEL!

Poor Mr. Tayler. I hope they make good use of their hour and forty-five minutes of you!
